A lighter that's been in Arthur's possession since the beginning of the series. It is first directly referenced when Arthur and John enumerate their inventory in the Dreamlands.[1]

According to Arthur, the lighter was found in an old desk drawer when he moved into his office. It was unclear whether the lighter was Roland Cummings' (the name on the lease) or Elijah Strong's (the team they rented from).
Potential uses of Arthur's Lighter include:
After they enter the Dreamlands, Arthur does not appear to search for any further lighters.[1] He uses the lighter to cauterize John's wounds,[1] and to light a Molotov Cocktail.[2] He barters it back from The Trader.[3] In Part 20, Kayne's list of Arthur's belongings notably does not include the lighter.
In Part 22, Yellow quotes 'this too shall pass', but claims to have not seen the lighter before as Arthur rifles through his pockets for it. Later, Arthur searches his pockets and finds the lighter. In the Larson Estate, Yellow asks Arthur to pull out the lighter.[4]
In Part 35 in the hospital, Detective Noel takes out a cigarette and asks Arthur for a light. When Arthur takes out the lighter to light the cigarette, Noel hums, but does not say anything else about it. He later reveals that the lighter 'famously' belonged to his former partner, Roland.[5]
Known Abilities[]
- The lighter seems supernaturally able to stay on Arthur's person.
- Certain characters do not perceive the lighter, notably Kayne and Yellow (though he does recall later). In Part 22, Yellow is unable to see or locate the lighter twice.
- Arthur claims to have had it the entire time, but has searched for other light sources (such as stealing Kellin's lighter in Part 4, buying a pack of matches in Part 6, and taking a lighter from the police boat in Part 9).
